Too Many Pies are the University of Newcastle Ultimate Frisbee Team. If you’re asking 'what the hell is ultimate?'. Go here.
The Pies were formed about 4 years ago, by a few folk who wanted to play Frisbee in the park more than work. A philosophy continued to this day!
Since it’s lowly beginnings, the club has grown rapidly becoming one of the larger University Clubs, with over 100 members. If you want to see some of their ugly mugs, and I’d advise against it, you can check that out in the 'Pie Team' section.
We’re now regulars at most of the major tournaments around the country, and qualified for the Division 2 Nationals both Indoors and Outdoors last season. We have high hopes for a Women’s team, thanks to the large number of keen women players, and sterling work by our Women’s co-ordinators.
Arguably the club’s real focus lies in Mixed Ultimate. We hosted the Mixed Outdoor Nationals for the last 2 seasons, and love promoting this side of the sport.
Too Many Pies have also spawned The Brown, a non-student team in Newcastle, made up of people who have proper jobs, as well as students both current and graduated.
If you fancy giving Ultimate a go, or have played before in the past, we’d love to have you come play with us. Just drop us an email, and come along.
Here are a few reasons for our team name, Too Many Pies:
